What a great way to start the year. The track race was a lot more fun than I expected (especially considering the weather). But I met three people from Conway that I did not know and enjoyed the company of other CRC friends. And, as always - great to see Frank & Judy out there capturing the memories for us. Way to go CRC! Conway is on FIRE this year.

Mary Jo was my cousin. She was one of the best people I will ever know. She was a fine christian woman. The Lord always came first in her life. They said at the funeral service that she never left her home without a prayer with her family. She will always be missed. Just a week ago, I saw her at wal*mart and at the fitness center in Morrilton. Like one of these previous posts, it said that "little did I know that it was my last time to see her." It is the same with me. She was a wonderful woman. We Love You Mary Jo!!!!

It was such a blessing to attend Mary Jo's visitation service last night, and WOW! What a crowd. We waited about an hour in line to make it to the front to pay our last respects and meet her sweet momma. Mary Jo's Mom was so glad to meet CRC friends and thanked us all for sharing in the love that Mary Jo had for running/riding. My favorite memory of the night was her mom told us that she asked Mary Jo if it bothered her to be nearly the last person to finish a race, and Mary Jo responded "No momma, they cheer for me even more"... Mary Jo - we are proud of you, and proud that you were a part of the Conway Running Club! You made us a better club by being involved. We are cheering for you!

And one more great thing about the CRC. So many encouraging people. Thanks, Judy, I'll take all those thoughts and experiences on the trails with me (and with you) and we'll have the time of our lives.

Great article. You will do great. I have completed many endurance events under trained. I hiked up Pikes Peak... there is really no way to train for high altitude hiking. I completed my first marathon with a long run of only 18 miles. I completed my first 100 mile bike ride with my longest training ride only being 38 miles. I completed my first 50K having only run the distance of a marathon. All you have to do is not quit and you will finish. I can't wait to share the experience of your first 50K with you.
