Facebook Friday – a glimpse into the CRC

When we are out running races with runners from all over the state, country or world, it can be hard to explain the friendship, support and benefits we receive as a part of the Conway Running Club.  When you think about it, it is sometimes hard to believe ourselves.  Recently at the Tupelo marathon I was talking with someone at the finish line and commented how fun it was to start in the dark at 5am and run as the sun came up.  The other runner agreed and said he ran almost every day at 5am – by himself.  When I told him we had over 30 runners on some days each week at 5am he just stared at me in disbelief.

I had another one of those moments today.  I get to run with runners who are faster than I am and as a result I am gaining speed and friends at the same time.  A couple of these, Don and Laura, haven’t been with the CRC that long but it seems like they’ve been running with us forever.  They are off to Chicago and Joplin, MO to run marathons this weekend (with LOTS of other CRC and Conway runners) and the support and friendship that surrounds them as they go is awesome.  This is not something you can create, but rather something that grows and develops as people meet together in a parking lot to run in all weather conditions and all times of the day and night.

So, as just one example of what is happening at the Conway Running Club, and there are many others, click on the image to the top right and read the Facebook thread that transpired today!
