Hey gang, just wanted to throw out a couple quickies as the 2010 Grand Prix nears it’s end.
First… Rock on Mary. Mary French is just 2 races from a 2010 Iron Woman. Keep it up Mary, I know it’s been a long HOT and hard year of running. We’ll plan on seeing you tomorrow morning, Saturday morning 11/20, and again later that afternoon at the GP Awards.
Second… THANKS to all the men and women of the CRC who signed up, raced, and represented the CRC in this year’s series. As mentioned above, it was a long hot year of running. I’d say summer, but summer has pretty much lasted all year, at least it sure seems that way.
Third… The Grand Prix has just finished taking nominations for the yearend GP Awards. They have now opened up the list for voting. We have several CRC members that have been nominated in various categories. To vote you only need to be a member of a RRCA Club. You don’t have to have signed up for the GP, or run any races at all… just being a member of the CRC gets you one vote (per category).
So, when you get a chance head over to the Arkansas GP site, http://www.arkrrca.com/ and place your vote.
Last… A glance toward next year, and the possibilities of even STRONGER CRC Grand Prix teams. Several runners have been added to the CRC and have committed to running next year’s GP. I also know of several other folks, fairly new members of the Conway running community, that have made HUGE strides this past year & could really be forces next year. Last there are a couple of folks who look like they are going to be new members of the CRC, and we always love to welcome new members…
With a couple of those additions to the men’s team, I’m thinking that for the first time in several years, we could overtake LRRC for the GP Team Championship. At the very least we could really make them sweat, and I think that would be fun.
Now, ladies, I’m not trying to fire you all up here, buuuuut, I’ve had several members, of other clubs ask me, “what happened to the CRC women this year”? I’ve even had the comment made, “you know, the CRC women have too much talent to not be vying for a championship”! Well… I could not agree more, and I think what happened is just that timing just didn’t work out well for us this year.
So… I say, let’s put our stamp on a couple more runs, and then start looking toward next year. I know a few ladies that will be willing to sign up, and you add them to the talent (and yes, I mean talent) we have already. I think the CRC could easily go 2 for 2 next year.
Well, that’s all I got for now, and folks say I’m long winded, ha…

I agree, Paul, our ladies are far better than their team standing indicates. On a positive note, they had a nice 3rd place finish in the Soaring Wings Half. They’ll be back in 2011.
